Today marked the last day of our cruise aboard the Aurum.  Since there wasn’t a lot of distance from Mljet to Dubrovnik, we stopped at the small island of Sipan.  The real reason we wanted to stop there was to hit the ATM so we could replenish our cash for the tip for the captain and crew.  The first thing we noticed was that the town was almost deserted.  Remember that Twilight Zone episode where the astronaut is running around the town looking for anyone and all he hears is a child giggling?  Yeah, it was that kind of quiet.  Anyway, after a bit of walking around, one of our group found the ATM at the local hotel.  We were assured that the ATM worked, but none of us to get it going.  Upon inquiry, the hotel person explained that while the ATM worked, it currently didn’t have any power to it.  Thanks!  That conjures up the scene where Inspector Clouseau asks the hotel clerk if his dog bites before bending down and petting him.  When the dog nips at him and Clouseau exclaims that he thought the clerk’s dog didn’t bit, the clerk tells him that it isn’t his dog!  Notice all the TV and movie metaphors today?  Not sure what’s up with that!  Anyway, the highlight of the stop was lunch where we had nearly the best meal of the whole trip.  The owner was also a really fun guy.  Anyway, off to Dubrovnik to end this phase of the trip, say goodbye to most of our shipmates and get ready to head to Turkey!

Not seeing any people and most of the houses windows are shuttered. I suspect this may be a second home community for Dubrovnik.

Sitting down for lunch. A lovely spot, with beautiful place settings.

We started with some mixed mezes (here some ceviche).

But this was the "pièce de résistance" -- the owner bringing a fish he described as a "cousin of a red snapper." It was grilled with herbs, drizzled in olive oil and served. Mmmmm....

This young lady stopped by for a visit. I can't argue with her sentiment. We have been severely "tube"-constrained!
